My main objective for being on the Local Station Board is to help WBAI give listeners the programming they want. WBAI is facing a serious financial problem due to significantly less listener support. I want to help get back the lost listener support.

On the Local Station Board I will work to solve the financial problem that WBAI is facing in two ways: 1. By pursuing the elimination of things that contribute to the financial problem. 2. By supporting the replacement of what has been eliminated with measures that will bring back lost listener support.

The following is what I want to eliminate. I promise to work on eliminating shows that are motivated by the political goals of the producers and are not wanted by most listeners. Giving listeners programming that they should want needs to be replaced with programming that they do want. I will work to prevent shows that are the station’s biggest fundraisers from being scheduled less frequently. Contracts that pay salary to privileged show hosts should not be renewed.

It is important to replace what is eliminated with better things. Give listeners more of the shows that they want (i.e., the biggest fundraisers). It is important to always send premiums in a timely manner to all supporters. Either pay show hosts appreciation bonuses that correspond to the proportion of funds raised, or don’t pay any show hosts. I think that corporate donations should only be accepted if the corporations remain anonymous and have no influence in programming. Again, the basis of programming must be what the listeners want.

WBAI can become a financial asset for Pacifica again by giving the community of listeners the shows that they support with their money. I support all shows wanted by most listeners that give a voice to the voiceless because they challenge the facts, ethics, or policies of government and other authorities, like the Food and Drug Administration, Internal Revenue Service, and American Medical Association. Let us keep the democratic process alive by letting the listeners choose their programs. My campaign slogan is: VOTE, Keep democracy alive!
